Anyone over the age of 40 or so probably remembers the little children’s picture books by Dr. Suess, Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and The Shape of Me and Other Stuff amongst other titles.
Dr. Suess was otherwise known as Theodore Suess Geisel – war time political cartoonist. Educated at Dartmouth and then Oxford University, he manufactured propaganda for the likes of Rockerfella’s Standard Oil, the corporation behind the rise of big pharma. Nevertheless, we are supposed to believe his writing for children was just a bit of fun.
The claimed story behind Green Eggs and Ham is that it came about because Suess’s editor at Random House challenged him to write a book with just 50 different words. But this explanation does not ring true. There is something else going on. When I first read Green Eggs and Ham again as an adult several years ago, the symbology was screaming out at me, so I attempted to decipher it.
The full original version can be found here reproduced as a cartoon video:
And here is a link to the text if you want to read instead Green Eggs and Ham
The picture on the link above shows the image on the original book cover except for the amanita muscaria image on the left which has been added for the video (suggesting the producer of the video can see the psychedelic references in the text).
What the jeepers creepers are Green Eggs and Ham then? And who the hell is Sam?
At first glance, the story sounds like a reference to something sordid or sexual, especially if you take the cover picture to be a pair of tits and and a phallic thing. However the usual interpretation is that Green Eggs and Ham is supposed to be about teaching children the benefit of trying new things. Despite that there is clear temptation going on, persuasion, and not taking no for an answer, which appears to go beyond helpful encouragement.
Most interpretations explain the story as a conversation between a character called Sam and another individual. But this is not one hundred percent clear. Sam could possibly be talking to himself. The child within. . In Freudian terms it could be the Id (instinct) pestering the Super Ego (controlled) mind. The illustrations do look like a larger and smaller version of the same individual. That debating voice within the head.
The book starts with:
‘I am Sam I am Sam Sam I am That Sam-I-am That Sam-I-am!
I do not like That Sam-I-am ...’
This is almost certainly a reference to God and demon. In the middle of that sentence you find I am that Sam I am.
I Am That I Am is the proper name of god coded into the biblical texts in Exodus 3:14, when Moses and God converse in the desert. Verse 3.14 numbering is a sign to tell you there is a connection with the value of Pi.
Exodus 3, verses 13, 14 and 15:
And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you
And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations
Sam could be a reference to the archangel/demon Samael from talmudic lore), angel of death/accuser/destroyer who was partner of Lilith. More about this couple here Demons from the Depths They form the central powers of emanation from the left. There is a three pronged fork in the ‘ham’ of the cover picture which hints at a satanic reference (ie self worship).
The character ‘I am That Sam I am’ is being tempted with something forbidden. Green eggs and ham. What are green eggs? What do they represent? The Hebrew root of the name Samael comes from sami meaning either blind or poison and ‘el’ meaning god. Could be literal poison (as green raw eggs can mean that dangerous bacteria is in there) or it could be a reference to youth, to spring. Ham is pig so it’s not kosher in judaism, but for christians it is seen as a spring meal. So are we talking about renewal/spring? Is it the serpent tempting Eve?
Note the fork left in the ‘ham’.
Are we talking about something toxic? Or is it is a reference to forbidden sex? Or masturbation? Sam is using a left hand to tempt the other guy with who has his hands firmly down. There is a passage in Genesis chapter 9 where Ham (Noah’s son) enters his father Noah’s tent and witnesses his ‘nakedness’ which leads to Noah cursing Canaan (Ham’s son). This is know as the ‘curse of the Canaanites’. It is an odd passage which may mean incest, homosexuality or the son sleeping with the father’s wife (or his mother).
Is this question ‘Do you like green eggs and ham?’ incitement to incest? Is there a connection with Noah and the flood:
….. Could you, would you, With a goat?
I would not, Could not. With a goat!
Would you, could you, On a boat?
I could not, would not, on a boat.
I will not, will not, with a goat ….
Goats and boats - what could go wrong?
The modern Harper Collins edition cover below, for some reason rejects the original cover and puts this pic on the front:
Noah’s Ark? More like a submarine
Goat is Capricorn, Azazel , scapegoat, the demon/devil and I believe that Suess has used the phrase I AM THAT SAM I AM to mean both God and demon. This is because both God and demon are within us . The adversary is within us and this is exactly what Hermetic wisdom teaches . That man is the light but the battle is with oneself. This is played out in the Corpus Hermeticum, the magical, astrological and alchemical texts attributed to Hermes Trismegistus (thrice the greatest) and identified with the ibis headed Egyptian God Thoth see below:
It is no accident that the Sam character in Green Eggs and Ham has feathers and there is quite a bit of feather imagery in the book.
There is a part in the Corpus Hermeticum texts known as The Vision where the great winged dragon Poimandres reveals himself to Hermes as the personification of the universal mind ‘the nous’. Although the Greek interpretation of the meaning of Poimandres was ‘shepherd of man’, the coptic origin comes from ‘Peime nte Re’ meaning the knowledge or nous of Re (Re being Egyptian sun god).
There are three times that the character repeats the phrase ‘ I do not like Green Eggs and Ham’
In Matthew 26 verse 34 Jesus states that Peter will deny him three times before the rooster crows:
‘Jesus said to him: Amen I say to thee, that in this night before the cock crow, thou wilt deny me thrice’
Is this then a reference to Jesus being something forbidden? Could Christ be ‘green eggs and ham’? There is a theory that Jesus Christ is a metaphor for amanita muscaria, the magic mushroom. John Allegro’s book ‘The Mushroom and the Cross’ is well worth a read, despite it being banned by the establishment.
One thing that does seem to be clear from all these teachings is that there appears to be power in repeating words/mantras, and repetition three times has significance for the creative force, or God as in the concept of Trinity, which originates way before christianity.
My gut feeling is that green eggs is a metaphor for the biblical manna described in the book of Numbers, ch. 11: v 7 -9
.. .Now the manna was like coriander seed, of the colour of bdellium. And the people went about, and gathering it, ground it in a mill, or beat it in a mortar, and boiled it in a pot, and made cakes thereof of the taste of bread tempered with oil. And when the dew fell in the night upon the camp, the manna also fell with it
Here is a picture of fruit of the commifora wightii tree from which is derived the resin bdellium.
It only says it is the colour of bdellium though. The reference is likely to be to Vachellia Nilotica (ie thorny acacia tree) below (also known as gum arabic. or babul tree) – the seeds in the pods look green at first but then appear white , the pods can contain a sticky fluid and eventually go black and fall to ground. Strong, sweet fruity smell. DMT can be derived from this and other Acacia species. This is likely the burning bush described also in Exodus 3
Exodus 16:31
‘The house of Israel named it manna, and it was like coriander seed, white, and its taste was like wafers with honey’
There are other forms of manna like honeydew and there are several plants which grow in the Sinaii desert which insects or aphids feed on and a sticky sweet substance accumulates on the leaves which then fall to the ground with the morning dew. One is Tamarix Nilotica below
.
During my time working in Egypt in the 19080s, I did travel in the Sinaii desert and spent some of that time travelling with Bedouins who gave me a substance derived from a tree like this, although I’m not sure exactly which tree it was. They called it minrah and it was a gentle trip, a pleasant floaty sensation and this bird appeared and dropped one of it feathers which then got bigger and formed itself into a sun umbrella and when I sat underneath it with this bedoiun guy I became part of the earth so could understand her messages although I have forgotten what they were. It was much milder than synthetic DMT or LSD which drug use ultimately led me to repeated psychotic episodes.
Haloxylon Salicornicum is another possibility from which the sweet sticky manna could be derived. This is also found in Sinaii desert.
So green eggs makes sense if in relation to the pods/fruits of the above trees.
Going back to Exodus 3.14 (pi) and looking at the geomatria of the phrase I am that I am we can learn more. Alexander Waugh has done a podcast which discusses this name of God and geomatria in part of his stuff about the Shakespeare authorship question.
I have checked the calculations myself in various ways and this is what I found . Using Latin alphabet and the Pythagorean cipher method:
I AM THAT I AM adds to 37 (3+7) = 10 (1+0) = 1.
If I use the simple English method of gematria instead:
I AM THAT I AM adds to 91 (9+1) = 10 = 1
So either way I AM THAT I AM = 1. The unity.
Now sticking Sam in the middle
I AM THAT SAM I AM.
Using Latin script I am = 22. This is 2 x 11 and in Shakespeare’s Sonnet 121 it states ‘I am that I am’, 121 is 11 x 11,
There are 22 cards in the Major Arcana of the tarot.
11 numerologically means new beginnings . The sun’s magnetic field cycle has a period of 11 years and 11 is represented by the Fool in the tarot and on the Tree of life of the Qabala, it is the path into manifestation.
So 22, or twice time eleven, is doubly new beginnings. To begin again. Renewal. It is Justice card in tarot. Balance, the scales, Libra. In the Qaba’la it is the path between the breaking down force and the point where the light is revealed within.
Sam also adds up to 22 In the English method
I am Sam adds up to 22 in Pythagorean method
I AM THAT SAM I AM no matter which way I calculate it adds to 5 – in numerology that is the number of man. THe number of the five senses, the fingers on one hand , the toes on one foot. It is also the number of temptation. It is also the Pythagorean number of marriage/love and has a sacred element as with the 5 pillars of Islam.
In the simple English method using English alphabet, I am also equals 5.
So the conclusion I get from this is that the bible states that God is both 1 (the unity) and 5 (man). It is both the individual and the universal. It is saying look within and see, as above so below.
Would you like green eggs and ham could mean would you like a new beginning? Rebirth?
What is overly weird hat on the big character’s head? Reminds me of the tail in this picture often found in grimoires (leviathan) .
Is Suess hinting at beast of the sea symbology?
It is important to notice the fall as time goes on in the story, more apparent from the pictures and video. It shows the collapse (like the Tower in the tarot). The characters end up in the water (subconscious mind) and in astrology symbolic of the southern skies (the deep south). Constellation Argo.
Jacob’s ladder?
I could not, would not, on a boat.
I will not, will not, with a goat.
I will not eat them in the rain.
I will not eat them on a train.
Not in the dark! Not in a tree!
Not in a car! You let me be!
.
It’s like ‘fucking drown, or fucking heal’
Theodore Suess Geisel joined the Sigma, Phi Epsilon Fraternity at Dartmouth College.
Sigma, the 18th letter of Greek alphabet, derives from a Phoenician letter which became Hebrew Shin and Latin SS. Sigma was used to denote a hiss. Heiroglyph associated with it looks like a serpent. It can be taken to mean serpent. Sigma is also the summation symbol. To sum up is to put together, add up. It is the answer, the logos, the word or Reason.
Epsilon is the 5th letter of the greek alphabet. It is equivalent to our letter E. It denotes movement and communication with someone or something that is ‘away’ The ancient heiroglyph associated with it shows a person with raised arms, this likely means communication with God.
Phi symbol is an IOTA through a circle. The Iota or line is a downward ray, force or radiation/light . When it dissects a circle (omicron O) coming into a space (circle) it denotes light or rays coming in constant supply to that space. WE can take Phi then as meaning light .
Are we talking about Sigma/Phi/Epsilon meaning
‘communication with the serpent to reach the light’ ..
Sounds like a reference to enlightenment. The question is by what means? They speak of goodness and honesty but Sigma Phi Epsilon brotherhood describe their way of being brotherly is to obey the law. Yet ‘legal’ does not equate to ‘moral’. Laws can be the opposite of what is necessarily considered morality. This is just a brotherhood of social control.
Sigma Phi Epsilon (predictably) was supposedly set up by 12 good and true men . And their website claims there are always 12 000 of these saints over 200 campuses with 360 000 initiates to date. Just coincidental numbers of course.
Don’t the good and the true look like great fun.
Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity need to practice their maths - I can count 15 boys above.
And Sam and his mate end up at the top of hill on dry land happy. Man has found his god-self.
I will need to read the Green Eggs and Ham book. When I was little I wasn't attracted to the book because I thought green eggs sounded disgusting. Lol.
I have heard a little about the Acacia tree part you mentioned. Honey made from the pollen of that tree is the only honey that will never spoil. I think I heard there is a mind altering chemical from the tree that has been used in ancient times?
