The veil between this world and the other world is thin. What we know today as Samhain or Samhuinn (scotland) and Sauin (Manx) meaning ‘summer’s end’, or the celtic new year, has its predecessor in a three day festival of the dead known as Feile na Marbhe. This was held in ancient celtic Ireland at the full moon rising between the autumnal equinox and the winter solstice.
The word ‘feile’ could stem from a word meaning ‘awake and ‘na’ is unclear but could mean either ‘not’ or ‘our’ leaving us with two opposite conclusions ‘Awake our Dead’ or ‘Do not awake our dead’. Which is it? Seems kind of important not to have lively celebrations to call up the ancestors if the idea is to let them be?
Christians of course know this as halloween. During the 400 years when the Romans conquered the celtic lands they combined two of their festivals to line up with Samhain. ‘Feralia’ or ‘the passing of the dead’ and that of Pomona (roman goddess of fruit and trees). To maintain power, they needed to blend in with the .celtic tradition, so the catholic martyrs and saints day was moved from May to November 1st by Pope Gregory and became All Hallow;s Day, and the evening of 31st October t became the vigil of All Hallow’s eve. November 2nd became All Soul’s day or ‘day of the dead’.
This ancient three day festival saw the magical folk of the Tuatha da Danann getting up to trickery and many a mortal, due to the thin veil between worlds at this time of year, disappeared into the otherworld below to dwell with the Sidhe. The powers of nature herself became demoniac entities.
On the Isle of Man the celtic new year is celebrated as ‘Hop to Naa’, which is a corruption of Shogh ta’n oie (this is the night).
In Mesoamerican culture the Day of the Dead /Dia de Los Muertos is a similar festival when the spirits of the dead return. In Peru, it was, even in pre-columbian times, celebrated at end October/beginning November. This festival of the dead has its origin in ancient times even before the Olmecs inhabited Mexico in the first millenium BC. In fact around the world in both northern and southern hemispheres you get these same festivals/myths on or close to the 2nd November which means it is not just about the coming of the annual winter season. It goes much deeper than that, marking something to do with the end of an age.
Could this time of witches, demons, trickery, and celebration of the dead be connected with the cataclysm that destroyed Atlantis, and the ancient world?
It is no accident that witches ride on broomsticks. Although some claim there is a saucy sex/druggie explanation for this, you can read about here, stoned witches broomsticks actually look like comets:
The heads of comets do glow green like witches due to dicarbon atoms which absorb sunlight in space and emit it as visible light.
It makes perfect sense that Wiccan/witches’ new year is the time of year when the comet hit . It would have been a new age of darkness ruled by this satanic, flying broomstick force. There is an old saying that if you go outside on Halloween wearing your clothes inside out and walk backwards you will see a flying witch on a broomstick. My guess is this means that if you look back to the past at this time of year, you will see the comet approaching earth on its path of destruction.
Geologist and sacred geometry expert Randoll Carlson and ancient civilization researcher, diver and author Graham Hancock believe this comet hit earth thirteen thousand years ago. Carlson has produced an excellent video on the subject of samhain and it being a memory of the comet/flood here:
The Mysterious Origin of Halloween
The comet of doom appears to have its roots in the annual meteor shower known as the Taurids which emanate from comet Encke. They appear to stem from the constellation of Taurus, the bull at the shoulder area of the bull which is marked by the stars of the Pleiades or ‘seven sisters’.
If you want to see the Taurids this year, the best time would be 18th November, looking south. Earth passes through the taurid shower every June and October/November. The Tunguska event in East Siberia on June 30th 1908 was a result of an asteroid in this stream which exploded above Siberia flattening .some 500,000 acres of forest.
To the Mayans these falling stars were the Tzontemocque, falling hairs which fell to earth with the Lord of the Dead. Below is a picture from a Mexican relief:
The above picture of a falling demon (or Tzontemocque) from the Codex Borgia reminds me of an image I have from the Apocalypse Tapestry which I saw in France hung in the Chateau d’Angiers. There is a long oblong room there which contains the Apocalypse Tapestry displayed along the walls. THe falling demon in the top left of the photo below which depicts the fourth seal, the Pale horse and death is eerily similar to the one in the mexican relief above
Our concept of Satan may be linked with this comet-driven flood apocalypse which destroyed the golden age of Atlantis and Lemuria. Satanas does mean adversary and what could be a greater opposition but satan? With the fall of man (Adam) via a witch comet (Eve) a new age of sin enters the world. Sin merely means to ‘miss the mark’ and if we take the antediluvian golden age as the measure (or true), then all angles of precession away from there become degrees of angles away from true. So original sin is simply degrees moving away from truth. I believe the angel concept really derives from ‘angle’ (ie degree of angle away from true) as each age or eon passes but that’s for another essay.
As I mentioned above, The Roman Goddess of fruit and trees was Pomona. The biblical Adam and Eve is a description of this comet event. It is no accident that in Harry Potter books Professor Sprout (the witch and teacher of herbiology and magical plants) was called Pomona. She is connected with earth through Hufflepuff House and its colours (yellow (corn) and black (pitch) – also connected with menstrual blood. This is fertility symbolism. Pomona is really representng the tree of life.
Looking a bit closer at the word ‘feili’ from ‘Feile na Marbhe’ it could also indicate veil or cover and féli’ can mean shame/nakedness according to the Royal Irish Academy dictionary. So this could be a hint at uncovering the dead. Exposing the bare bones.
The Pleiades link with this world cataclysm is common in mythical and religious texts. In the King James Version bible (Judges 16:3) there is this passage:
‘And Samson lay till midnight, and arose at midnight, and took the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of a hill that is before Hebron’
The above reference to shoulders could be referring to the shoulder of the bull (ie Pleiades). The Samson figure in mythical hero terms really refers to the constellation Orion (hunter) below Taurus in the sky. Hebron was previously knows as Kiryat Arba (city of four) apparently because of the four giants who lived there. Later Samson confesses to Delilah that his strength is in his hair. Hair in world myth means tail of the comet or meteorites which is why hair is an important symbol in freemasonry. Delilah cuts his hair but Samson still manages to push the pillars of the temple apart and it collapses . This could be a reference to the world catastrophic event caused by the comet .
Then there is the myth of Samson tying together three hundred foxes by their tales and then torching each pair of tales and setting them free in the standing grain of the philistines, also burning their vineyards and olive groves. This sounds like it could be a metaphor for a meteor shower. Three hundred is the value of Greek Tau. Tau is the living T cross, ie the cross born by the living Christ on his shoulders. Tau means truth. In Hebrew it is Tav or Taw the 22nd letter of the alphabet, (22 is very important number in numerology being twice time 11) more here Green Eggs and Ham/Suess. Tav means, truth, sign or life or death. Tav is formed from the letters dalet and nun which spell the name of the tribe of Dan. Samson is of the tribe of Dan. The word dan means to judge. This comet striking earth some thirteen thousand years ago was judgement day, today known as ‘the day of the dead’.
Atlas is the Titan condemned to hold the world up on his shoulders. The ancient ‘world’ meant the celestial spheres, not just the planet earth. Atlas is one of the stars in the Pleaides and is considered to be the father of the seven sisters. So it would make sense that a comet seeming to be travelling from the Plaeides star system could be seen as Atlas falling and bringing down the heavens.
Thw Egyptian sun god Re sent out his eye to destroy mankind in the form of Hathor, the horned cow goddess and ‘lady of all heart circuits’. Hathor transformed into the lion-headed goddess Sekhmet and became violently angry. In her rage she caused unmitigated death and destruction.
Sekhmet
To finally halt this grave assault on mankind when he saw it had gone too far, Re , knowing that Sekhmet loves drinking blood, supplies her with 7000 jars of beer and tricks her into getting drunk by mixing it with red ochre to make it look like blood (not sure why he didn’t use red wine, but never mind). 7000 is not arbitrary. In sacred geometry you can ignore the noughts, so take 7 as the meaning. We are back to the Seven Sisters of the Pleiades from where Sekhmet appeared to vent her anger by chucking out the comet.
There does seem to be a great deal of evidence to suggest Samhain is more than just a festival marking the end of summer and that it is a collective memory of a comet that impacted the earth and destroyed a whole civilisation by causing the world flood that is so common in myths worldwide. .
What do you think? Should we call up the ancestors at this time of year? Or let them be?
